gay marriage.

some of these comments are absolutely mindblowingly IGNORANT!

"Patrick

I'm so tired of hearing about "Civil Rights" from a group of people who can stop doing what their doing at anytime and be treated differently. Try being born a black man and never having that option !!! When you can, then come holler at me about CIVIL RIGHTS !! Until then, fight for your cause but don't try to put yourselves in the same boat as minorities."

EXCUSE ME? As a transgendered individual, I take severe offense to such ignorant bullshit like that. I cannot "stop" anytime being a pansexual transgender as if it is an on-off switch. Why would ANYONE think this? I can't stop liking girls, or liking boys, or other transgenders, or androgynes, or stop how I feel inside about my sexuality. I cannot believe the sheer audacity and stupidity of this comment. How are the LGBTQA's civil rights NOT being violated? A bunch of fucking religious people push their bullshit through legislation and prevent people the basic joy and life experience of marriage? How is that NOT a violation of civil rights? It's systematic prevention of a group of people from accessing the same rights as another group of people - Yes, this IS a matter of civil rights.

Here's something awesome... That dude's black, right? Well, I'm technically half-Arab. If he wants to play the minority card, I'm sure there's a lot of minority gays, lesbians, transgenders, etc who would love to talk to him about that!

"Juan

I don't get it. This group of people who are claiming that their "equal rights" have been violated are the same group of people who have managed to remove God from public places. What about our rights as Christians and followers of Faith having our rights removed? The same courts that removed church and state are the same courts that upheld the same sex marriage ban. If you guys want someone to blame, it's the courts, not religion. Blame Americans who are never satisfied with the freedom they have and want everything ruled by courts. So what if you can't get married, you're still going to live that lifestyle aren't you? Get over it. The religious world has managed to deal with not being able to have our kids pray in school and acknowledge God."

To my Christian friends: You guys need to do something about your fucking retarded fellow Churchgoers. This just insults all aspects of your religion, and this country.

Dear Juan, you are a bloody idiot. Did you take American History classes? There's a little something in our very important papers that are the very cornerstone to this nation: The Constitution, and the Bill of Rights. Do you remember the Bill of Rights, Juan? Do you remember a little something we like to call FREEDOM OF RELIGION? You understand what this implies, don't you, Juan? This means people can practice their religion freely, but it also means that people have the FREEDOM *FROM* RELIGION. Meaning, for your pea-sized brain, that just because you believe in something, not everyone does, and the people who don't share your religious whatevers are not obligated to partake in any of it. Oh, and you remember another little thing called the SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE, don't you? Oh, I don't know... Last time I checked that meant your religious bullshit cannot tie in with the law. So basically, GET OVER IT.

Not EVERYONE believes the same goddamn thing you do. Boo hoo. So the government had the respect to remove every real reference to the Christian religion from law, and public places. You sound like the type who would be pissed off if Muslims wanted to pray 5 times a day in school because that's what their religion dictates, huh. Well sweety that's why we have Separation of Church and State - your religious beliefs have no part in the law of the land. How about you get your nose out of your Bible and smell the damn coffee?

I want the SAME rights as you do, you ignorant asshole. I want the option to marry someone of the same sex if that's the sex of the partner I choose to go through the trials and joys of marriage, and not be told by some jackass that I can't because his religion says so. Since when do I have to play by your religion's rules when I DON'T EVEN BELIEVE IN IT? So what if I can't get married? What if I told you you suddenly couldn't get married because of your religion, or because you were Hispanic? That's pretty shitty, isn't it? You'd be pretty pissed, wouldn't you? It's a BASIC CIVIL RIGHT, I shouldn't be told by some fucker that has no part in my life to be dictated what I can and cannot do regarding my relationships.

God damnit, why are so many of my fellow Americans so fucking STUPID and IGNORANT?

I am agreeing with you on all this. Although I am a christian I wouldn't want to push my belief on others. Not to mention I feel that people have the right to choose their partners in life. I mean it's not like everyone is going to be involved in an individuals personal life for goodness sake. People just need to let it go and allow people to have more options because having religion or what not hold you back from what you want, or desire, isn't right at all. So yes I agree with you whole heartedley and I hope that our fellow Americans can come to the conclusion that they are blowing it all out of proportion when there is a simple solution to all this. Allow us to have our rights and liberties/freedoms when it involves something as personal as this. Stupid people....

oh, i have plenty of christian friends who are the absolute best. but... there are way too many ignorant people in your faith and as someone as apart of that group who wants these civil rights, i feel very offended that they feel this self-righteous need to force their beliefs on us via legislation. it's not right.

i mean, i'm not even christian, yet i have to abide by marriage laws that are dictated based on christian principles? since when does that make sense? we have separation of church and state for a reason, and clinton's defense of marriage act is bullshit

i'm glad you understand where i'm coming from on this. there needs to be more people like you! <3

i'm agnostic, sorta?

but honestly, this is a good reason why i went away from the christian faith. i just... i just couldn't believe in it anymore. the organized aspect of it isn't helping, either.

i hate to say this but is it just me, or do you really only see this sort of stupid shit with The Big Three religions?

Yes, it's true. I really wish we could all just forget about religion and create our own ideas. I'm happy that the majority of my generation is beginning to form their own opinions about what to believe and not believe what their parents tell them. In a perfect world, there would be no religion =D

it's people like that that make me ashamed of the fact that I am a Christian :/ I can't believe how completely stupid most Christians are on the subject of gay marriage. separation of church and state is there for a reason, and religion should not be dictating our laws, end of story.

Yes, that is why we had seperation of church and state to begin with, because not everyone is going to believe in the same stupid shit. And just because you hold a different belief doesn't make you wrong at all... it makes you an individual, which we sorely need more of in this country. It's like no one can think for themselves anymore because they feel that they have to follow the crowd. Hence why if someone votes against gay marriage than someone else will because that person did, and it goes from there.
Me personally voted FOR gay marriage because I think we should allow people to do what they want. I mean this country is called America for a reason. But sometimes I feel that we are loosing the original principles we started out with in this country and are mixing it up.
